Art or whatever!
GOD THIS IS SUCH A MISTAKE. I promise I will never put a twitter feed on LJ, that's just irritating I know.

Something like ten people have friended this journal in the past two or three days! Where are all you guys coming from! Did someone link me or do I just have a permeating presence? I am curious!

I am boring, so I will get on to the art.

This is the last of the art that I did from Setsucon. There was only that sour instant hotel coffee at the shindig, and I was embarrassingly going through caffeine withdrawal. Also, there is a vague 30 Rock reference.


There was so much pencil smudging in this one, I slapped a texture on it to make it look passable. Then I half-heartedly colored it. How is metal effects formed? No one can be sure.


OH YEAH, I guess this is my Valentine's Day picture? It was done in time for Valentine's, but I always feel weird posting one thing at a time. Like I'm wasting your guys' time or something. Inspired by that music video that Everyone's-Already-Seen, but I will link it here anyway. I take secret pleasure in how Sid's underwear is half coming off 8D


I realized that bunny ears look kinda like a nimbus! I guess that's neither here nor there.
Ananth says he looks like "Canti" from FLCL, but I'm actually not really familiar with the character... I saw the first episode back when I was in high school... It's one of those things I should probably sit down and watch.


I did this as kinda an exercise, then Ananth told me I should color it. So I did! It was pretty fun. It might get submitted to threadless?

I've been trying to teach myself how to use ink with a brush. I used a brush to do the latest J*W and I think it came out pretty okay? +1 TO INDIE CRED!

	the brush work is looking so nice :D it gives everything a nice organic quality that computers can't mimic easily. makes it seem fresh (totally just got done with crits for finals, can you tell? lol) (Reply to this) (Thread)(Expand)

	Maybe you should give it a shot! It's really very challenging, but I'm finding myself preferring it to brush pens -- most felt brush pen tips start to fall apart after one use, I can't stand it. When using a brush, you only use the tip. The only way you could ruin it is by being really careless while cleaning or storing it. ALSO: I LIKEWISE HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO PAINT. 8D (Reply to this) (Parent)

I wasn't a new friend this week, but I thought I would tell you that I think I found you through a certain Bryan Levay & Cristi Jacques, courtesy of MTSU. I think the way it went was I went to the honor's dorm there (I think it was Cristi's last year, actually, she was still dating Bryan), Bryan and a host of others introduced me to QC, and QC linked me to Fallen. It's been a few years. I'm usually a silent reader/watcher... After years of reading little things here and there, you develop this unrealistic, one-sided friendship with artists, but I am always consciously aware that I don't really know you, so I shouldn't bother with my comments. Besides, 8 million other people will probably say the same thing I did, right? I have commented before... I think it was to point out that we share a birthday? I can't remember now if it was exactly the same day or just close so I wished you a happy birthday or something. *shrug* (me: 1985/04/27) One of these days I may see if Bryan will drag me to a con sometime, actually meet some of the artists I follow. I'm sort of a late blooming geek/nerd. The signs were always present, but very few opportunities to allow it to really surface - thank you homeschooling! - until I went to college. So I am a convention virgin! Oh wow, that IS a ways back! Jeph and I were tight back in the day. I could've sworn that I've seen you comment here a bunch before. Maybe I've seen you comment in other places? You seem very nice! Hello! A-and if you want to comment on a thing, you should! I try to reply to everyone if I have time. There are not 8 million people, just a few dudes from the internet. My birthday is April 25th, but I've probably announced it late in past years. I try not to toot my own horn about things. I'm two days older than you! 8D I do go to a bunch of cons on the east coast these days, although most of them wind up being either anime cons (they seem to be the most receptive about having webcomic guests) or small press comics events. Hello I have had you on my friends list for ages but since people are posting I might as well join in. :D I first saw your art on Elfwood waaaaay back in the last century. And I liked your monsters a great deal (because they were different and interesting and had a grounding in actual anatomy and stuff). Uf, that place is a time capsule for myself at age 14. @_@ Haha, I had this conversation with the roommates recently, actually. Y'know how some kids completely invest their time into ONE THING like becoming really good at Street Fighter or collecting Magic Cards or taking apart electronics etc. etc.? The one thing that I completely focused my attention on as a kid was LEARNING ANATOMY WELL ENOUGH TO DRAW BIOLOGICALLY FEASIBLE DRAGONS. It consumed me. I friended you in a series of odd events that happened over a series of a few years. I remember a comic I used to read from you when I was a little younger called 'Fallen' Hurpdurp I think that was it anyway. I recently stumbled upon Johnny Wander from a weird day of sitting on my butt and surfing webcomics between finals. I think someone linked to yours somewhere, someplace... I dunno. But I thought the art was cute and the humor was pretty adorable too. Oh d'aw! Anyway, in that comic there was reference to RIT. And since I go there now I was all "yeah that's purdy cool reference to my life suddenly makes this comic even more appealing!". I left it at that but then some friend the other day got all excited about your older comic which drove me to finally make the connection of HEY this is the same artist as that webcomic I just started watching the other day!
