Hello I have a question!
I made a Byzantine Eagle Maw design this weekend! It was fun! If it's okay with you, I'd like to talk about it some. Can we talk about it? That'd be real nice.

Aww yeaahh! I've been wanting for a long while to do a Byzantine Eagle-But-Actually-A-Maw illustration. The symmetry isn't completely on, but I don't think it's horrible.


I went and made a 3-color print version of it for a tee or something, which I'm pretty okay with. (these don't have to be the finalized palette, though.)

It's difficult for me to ask stuff like this so forwardly, so I'm just going to dive in. Would you be interested in purchasing something with this image on it? Do you think other people would? What would you want it on? A shirt/hoodie/canvas bag/patch/sticker/mug/something else? Do you think it's a turnoff that it has my and Ananth's brand on it? (Ananth is really pushing for a tee because he wants to wear it, haha)

I found a place that does imprinted 100% recycled journals and I kind of really want to give them a shot. Do you think people might be interested in something like that? I went and made a mockup of what they might look like:


(sorry the image isn't so clear! or well-made D: ) The journals are 7.5"x6", 100 pages long. I think they're cute and practical. Also, I want to make them because I want one.

[edit:] Unfortunately, these only come with lined paper. :/ I'd prefer to do sketchbooks, but they're not available.

	I'd buy a T-Shirt. And I'm sure so would sono_cat and her mom. I think it'd be cool as a back-logo shirt, with something silly as a front breast logo. Like the one panel of ants falling out of the fire detector. XD (Speaking of which, may I make an icon of that?) (Reply to this) (Thread)

	From what I can gather, it comes with the pencil holder but NOT a pencil. We could get custom wood pencils to match the journals, but I feel like most people prefer mechanical pencils or pens anyway. XD Thank you! :D (Reply to this) (Parent)

I think it would be most evil to make anything with that design on it. mostly because I would spend my money upon everything with it cause it's so damn cute/awesome/amazing! for true though. I think you should go ahead and put that on many many items :D I for one would want them ^^ and I could use a new notebook..... also, just my two cents, but I kinda like the off kilter symmetry thing. 	i really like the image, and I think you did a great job with it. Also I would be interested in buying a t-shirt and possibly the journal. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to buy them for at least a few months. I'm not sure the time frame you were thinking about for getting the items set up. (Reply to this)

I'm with the above. If I were not a penniless college student I would purchase all of the above (and this coming from someone who is not prone to purchasing merchandise- especially clothes- from the internet). As it is, I will probably have to choose between the shirt and the journal. Or maybe the patch...aah! Decisions! Oh, and I am enamored of the design itself, of course, but I like the Johnny Wander name on there, too. a) I have loved the title ever since it was announced and b) there's something great about it resembling a heraldic motto, though I'd be hard pressed to say what. I'm not sure how I feel about the color palette for the shirt idea. It would definitely be gangbusters on a shirt. (also gangbusters is apparently in firefox's autodictionary... but firefox isn't? What the frak?) The journal is also stellar. Coffee Mug would also be potentially really cool. B&W stickers I think would do well. Also I think these'd be great.. on a button. WHATEVER, I DON'T LIKE YOUR COLOR PALETTE But yeah, I'm with you on that one. I put that swatch together because it was simple and bold. Have any suggestions? Everyone seems to be all about tees! I wasn't expecting this kind of brand loyalty. XD I found a place that does digital printing on mugs... maybe I'll go all out and do something crazy and adorable for a mug? 	I think it's great on a shirt, and that's always a good place to start. I however have entirely too many shirts and therefore would recommend but not myself participate in shirt-time. However, get me a sketchbook with this and we're on like Donkey Kong. Possibly also a hoodie. 	that design is totally bitchin', the all-black one looks like it would make an awesome tattoo. i'm okay with the slightly-off symmetry, and i'm also okay with Johnny Wander being on it! i'd buy a t-shirt- and i agree with nekonaru_letao: i think it as a back image with a comic panel or something on the front would be awesome. Hoodie? Most definitely. It would go very well the maw that's going to be sitting on my desk (fairly soon, I hope). Also, for stickers: I have a black laptop and it would be cool to have this sticker on it in white and red (or white and some other color, really). So I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you go with stickers, it'd be wonderful to offer two versions of it: for people with black laptops and people with white laptops. (Reply to this)

I think stationary goods are a harder sell. I'm hesitant to make them myself, even though I have an audience that wants some. :\ Just the sheer number of orders I'd need to make is enough of a turn off. :\ That, and I'm super picky about paper. ^^;; If they do a order-by-basis, that would be much more desirable? Shirts are a standard seller, but mugs/glasses/steins are up there too. My vote goes for shirts~ ^^ (Reply to this) (Thread)

I didn't even think of that, thank you! Hmrm, I'll have to think this over. I got a pad of notebook paper from Boygirlparty for Christmas last year, and I thought it was the most DARLING thing. There IS a low minimum order number for this particular notepad. Looking around though, it looks like there's a minimum of 200-500 units for most other stationary stuff... that's WAY too much stock for us right now. DX I've never done glasses or mugs! I'm an avid collector of mugs, and I badly want to do a design! For now we'll probably stay away from glasses, I'm terrified of them breaking in transit. Thank you so much for the advice! 	Huh! I'd actually want to buy the journals cuz they're pretty cool-looking. I personally don't buy too much stuff online unless I desperately need to (hahah, textboooooks), but I'd buy the journals. 	I'd go for a tshirt but I understand what you mean about them being everywhere. I love the journal though. Because the Byzantine eagle is such an old design the first thing I fought of was seeing it on a canvas courier bag, like there's some sort of Jonny Wander army. It's a nice design. :D I love the journal idea but would not buy one for I have no use for yet another journal. A sketchbook yes! Lined paper journal, no. :( I realise the market for sketchbooks is ultra limited, ahaha. Stickers are always nice. Preferably die cut, but I guess if the sticker was square I'd just custom cut around the image myself so w/e. I would put it on my sketchbook. Take that! Actually if you made the stickers with a clear background that'd also be pretty sweet and would work on any colour surface! I also like the etched glasses idea someone had but shipping those would suck. Shirts are cool and all but the internet has me shirted-out. The rest of the internet doesn't seem to suffer from this disorder, however. (Reply to this)

	I'm all for the shirts - I actually LOVE those colors for it, too. Honestly, I think it would look completely awesome screened on a suit jacket or vest... but that's a little unreasonable ;) And if I were not EXTREMELY particular about my stationary needs, I might be inclined to buy the notebook as well.
